Mortimer burning down one of their residences is basically impossible from a "canonical" view, solely using the gameplay and provided story from the three games. The speculations mentioned on the wiki makes little sense if 5 Sim Lane is the house Mortimer burned down, as their family album in TS2 includes the infant Alexander at the very same house which clashes with Mortimer and Cassandra's memories of the fire happening before his birth, though this could be excused as another oversight from Maxis.ฤก3 Skyborough Boulevard from Sunset Valley being lost to this fire could explain why Gunther and Cornelia live in their house at 77 Maple Street in TS1, although this also directly clashes with Gunther's TS1 character bio. However, trying to put the same logic to it: Personally, I just think of them as separate places in SimNation as how they are presented in their respective games it's a game, after all, and quite an illogical one at that. Players like to interpret that the original Sims 1 Neighborhood/Old Town, Pleasantview and Sunset Valley are one and the same in order to fill in the gaping holes of inconsistencies between the iterations of the game.
